BlackBerry Smartphone Users Cut Off From Internet Due To A Major Fault At RIM

Just an hour ago, Telegraph reported that millions of BlackBerry smartphone users have been cut off around the world. It seems like there is a major fault at RIM, the Canada based Cell Phone Maker Company.

The service which is served from Slough’s RIM data centre was interrupted due to a glitch struck at 11 AM and all the online services for European, Middle Eastern and African consumers were cut off from the service. All the users are now unable to browse internet, IM or even access other internet services like email. We tried to contact the RIM officials but they were not available for comment. On the other hand, users which are offered services via corporate servers are unaffected and did not felt any inconvenience.

T-Mobile Confirms The Problem

T-Mobile UK on the other hand confirmed the existence of the problem with Blackberry services via official Twitter feeds. According to the tweet, RIM officials are investigating the issue. A Bahrain’s mobile carrier stated that BlackBerry services are affected all over the country and RIM is dealing with it now. Egypt’s Vodafone also tweeted that BlackBerry’s service stoppage is due to RIM’s own fault.

Many BlackBerry users were affected due to they are not able to use BBM either, which is RIM’s instant messaging service. It is a key feature of the BlackBerry devices and users are able to instant their friends saving the local text messaging costs.

Pressure Will Increase on BlackBerry

This outage will increase the pressure on BlackBerry as its popularity is decreasing by day due to the increased popularity of recent entrants like Apple and Google. BlackBerry’s second quarter revenue results revealed that there is a sharp drop in profits and they were unable to meet sales target of the quarter.
