Companies Ordered To Take Approval For Tablet Computers From PTA
Today, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority ordered all the cellular and broadband operators, OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and IT equipment dealers to get type approval for Tablet computers from the authority within next two weeks. It means that PTA has now added Tablet computers in the Type Approval list. So, now if any of the above mentioned companies are now bound to get approval from PTA to trade and market these tablet PCs in the country.
PTA To Maintain Full Data About Equipment & Accessories
This step was taken because the regulators found out that many of the importers, manufacturers and service providers marketing and selling different types of Tablets which have connectivity features like WiFi, HSPA, UMTA, GSM, EVDO and WiMax. So, now all the importers, makers and marketers will be issued type approvals from PTA and the authority will also maintain full data about equipment and accessories supplies.
Strict Action Against Non Followers
If any of the makers, marketers and service providers does not follow the order, they will have to face stern actions against them by PTA. Tablet marketers and sellers are now bound to follow all the directives written under Type Approval Regulations 2004.
Easy To Trace If Lost or Stolen
Usually, a type approval for a product is issued when that product is to be sold in that particular country. Many analysts approved this step from PTA and stated that it is very necessary and will help in reducing acts of crime and terrorism in future. So, now PTA will record the serial numbers and other details of all the tablet device being sold in the country and it will help later to trace them immediately in case if any incident of theft or any other crime act has been filed.
No Significant Change In Price Will Be Seen
Well, with this move, customers might experience a hike in the prices of the tablet computers but no any significant change in the price will be seen. PTA sent this Type approval notification to all the IT importers and dealer of tablet computers.
