Siri is undoubtedly the most innovative feature introduced in iPhone 4S back in October 2011 and it is the best voice recognition feature we have ever seen. At this point, almost everyone knows that Siri uses natural language processing and works as a voice based personal assistant and a knowledge navigator as well. Siri is capable of processing and replying to a wide variety of questions and commands being used every day with the help of services like Yelp, Google, Wolfram-Alpha and iOS system apps.
Siri is basically very fun to use but in reality, it’s just a toy. At this time many of the iPhone 4S users think that Siri is just a feature to show off and is not that useful. I mean really it cant be used that much in the daily life.
MAJEL
Well, today we are going to discuss about Google’s take on the voice recognition personal assistant to compete Siri. This underdevelopment project is codenamed as Majel and it is named after Majel Barret-Rodenberry who was famous for voicing most of the computers in Star Trek series. So, today we are going to discuss some of the major features which should be included in Google’s Majel to not just compete with Apple’s Siri but even to kick its virtual ass as well.
Majel Must Be Perfect To Beat Siri
First of all, Siri cannot be activated without pressing and holding the Home Button or using the Raise to Speak technique, which seldom works. So, we suggest Google to make Majel seamless to beat Siri in this feature. Additionally, Majel should be able to recognize user’s voice and ignore other voices around, which means that whenever the user is saying something, it should start taking input without even pressing any button.
Secondly, Siri comes with a character but it lacks a true personality and that’s why it feels stiff all the time.
So, we are suggesting that Majel should have a personality to understand user in a better way just like R2D2 from Star Wars.
Last but not the least; Majel should have different voices and personalities like GLaDOS from Portal or HAL from the Space Odyssey. In that case Google may have to license these voices and characters and it will really generate a lot of interest among the users.
