Microsoft To Take Hold of Skype For $8.5 Billion

A deal has been made by Microsoft to take hold of Skype for $8.5 billion. This deal was first announced in the May 2011.

Skype will become a part of the Microsoft and it is going to be supervised by Tony Bates, who is currently the CEO of Skype. Tony Bates will answer further to the Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer.

Skype will continue to provide its service to the customers all over the world. In future, Microsoft planned to add some more features in to the Skype to make internet calling far much better.

It was said about Skype by Microsoft’s CEO that it is an awesome product and this brand is loved and used by millions of people. He also added that they altogether with Skype team are working to make it better so that people could stay in touch with their family, friends and others. It could be anywhere and anytime.

It was said by Bates that by combining Microsoft and Skype, the two popular and successful brands, they could provide the users’ new ways to stay connected and they are committed to reach the milestone of 1 billion users daily.

In 2005, Skype was purchased by eBay on the cost of $2.6 billion. Later it was taken in November 2009 by a group which was led by Silver Lake. An IPO was on the way but a deal was offered by Microsoft which Skype didn’t refuse.
