N9 Will Soon Be Running On Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0

Nokia N9 is the first and only MeeGo smartphone from the manufacturer, well there are not many devices running on this dying platform either. So, now it seems like N9 is also going to turn into an Android device thanks to our capable hackers and developers. This time the credit goes to Alexey Roslyakov from the NITDroid team, as he has posted a picture of Nokia N9 running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Well, as you can see in the image below, the developers have been succeeded in running ICS on N9 but still it’s just an early build right now. So, obviously there are going to be some bugs and other issues in this build but I am sure hackers are working very hard to complete this custom build.

Another great news we have brought, which might interest all the owners of Nokia N900 which runs on Maemo out of the box that the same NITDroid team is also working on porting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on N900 as well.

Body Of N9 Suits Ice Cream Sandwich

We can say that Nokia N9 is one of the prettiest Nokia handset out there and it has been chosen for the ICS port as well, which makes it a must have smartphone. In the case of Nokia N9 and MeeGo, it is very interesting to see that the device does not have any physical button which fits nicely with Ice Cream Sandwich because it does not require any physical button at all. So, it will be fun to enjoy all the Ice Cream Sandwich goodness on a large 3.9 inch display of Nokia N9 due to all the extra space for navigational controls.

The project of porting ICS to N9 is titled as “progress”. There is a great news for all those who like MeeGo as well, as according to Alexey Roslyakov, the team is also working on a dual boot setup which will make users able to shift between MeeGo and ICS, cool isn’t it? We will keep you updated with this as we get more info regarding the matter.
