Nielsen Research Reveals Immense Popularity Of Android Market and Other Google Apps

When local mobile phone marketers have a business discussion with each other, usually the topic is the comparison between Android and iOS. Keeping in mind different demographics and appeal of the two products, many marketers think that Android is from Mars and iPhone is from Venus.

Facts And Figures
Well, here we have some interesting facts and figures for the Android users and other general smartphone users. The popular research firm, Nielsen conducted a survey to analyze the app trends among US based Android users. Simply, we can say that this research is based on the apps which liked by people particularly on their Android devices. This was a big research project which based on data collected from on device meters on thousands of Android smartphones in US. As expected, Android Market app ranked first in the list and Facebook app came in second. Well, of course it was obvious, so, other than these programs, other top apps are following:

  1. Google Map
  2. Gmail
  3. Google Search
  4. YouTube, Adv. Task Killer Free
  5. Angry Birds
  6.  QuickOffice Pro
  7. Pandora Radio

Amazon app for Android was ranked twelfth in the list.

Women, More Addicted To Facebook

Another test, which was based on Gender, revealed that most popular app in ladies is Facebook. Research shows that 81 percent of ladies use Facebook, where only 69% Facebook users are male. However, Google + is more popular in men with 15.8% ratio to women’s 7.2%. On the other hand, the most used app by men is Google Maps, 77.1% male users like Google maps, of course after Android Market. In US, Twitter, Words with Friends and Kindle programs are more popular with women.
