Nokia All Set To Launch Windows Phone Refresh (Tango) In Beijing on 21st March 2012

Well, we all know that Microsoft will be releasing the next iteration of Windows Phone very soon. Yesterday, we found out the real name of the update. Previously, we have been referring to it by its codename Tango, but the Head of Windows Phone Italy, Stefania Duico revealed that the official name of the next update will be Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh.

As we already know that this update will not be bringing new features, but it will be targeted to add compatibility to the lower end devices. So, by now, the original Windows Phone 7 was codenamed as Metro, Windows Phone 7.5 was Mango and now this new Windows Phone 7.5 will be called Refresh instead of Tango. Additionally, we also know that Windows Phone 8 will be called Apollo.

Release Date Found

Today, we have also found out the release date of Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh. Microsoft has sent out Chinese language press invites to the media for a media event in Beijing on March 21st. So, we are assuming that Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh will be announced then. We already know that Nokia will be releasing three different Lumia handsets in China by March 28th.

At this time, we don’t know when this update will be rolled out to the rest of the world, but we are assuming that the world will see this new update very soon after the Chinese launch. So, we can say that Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh release is more of a Nokia release because Nokia has been popular for introducing low end handsets in the market now Windows Phone will be running on those phones which will make them more popular.

We have to keep in mind that Nokia has lost its position as the largest cell phone maker in China now and Android has basically taken over its position along with the Apple iPhone. So, the question rises that whether Nokia and Microsoft will be able to able regain their position in the largest mobile market of the world?

We will keep you updated on this but if Windows Phone wants to succeed, it really needs to start gaining market share right now.
