Pakistan telecommunication Authority is finally allowed to freely advertise and promote the 3G auction in Pakistan, But there is still a hurdle is the way. The problem is that unfortunately PTA has no money left in its account for the advertisement.
It has been learnt from our sources that PTA had a massive advertisement campaign in the schedule. Almost all the leading national and international newspapers and magazines were included in the list for advertising. These papers included Wall Street Journal, Telegraph and The National (leading newspaper in UAE) etc.
PTA was in full mood to launch the campaign but the shock came when the budget was announced, which included nothing for 3G auction advertisement. Note that PTA advertised 3G auction a couple of months ago by publishing information memorandum but the entire campaign was halted due to the opposition. The opposition was of the view that the process should not go ahead without hiring a proper consultant who can supervise the auction campaign.
3G technology is very important because it will bring a new era of telecommunication in Pakistan. 3G technology has been introduced in the international market for quite some time now due to which many mobile phones in Pakistan are supporting it. This 3G Auction by PTA was to be held somewhere in March earlier this year, but due to the bad management and constant hurdles it could not go with the original schedule. Let us hope that PTA gets some money from the government otherwise it 3G auction will be delayed till 2013.
