PTA ‘Safety Policy’ Made More Strict Against Users Responsible For Spam Calls & SMS

PTA Safety Policy

It has been decided by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) that they are going to bring some improvements in the safety policy for their users including both mobile and telephone. Amendments will be made in their operator’s regulations.

It was said that the subscription of the one who is responsible for repeated fraudulent calls and SMS’s will be ended. Also the IMEI number of the handset used to do such deed will be terminated.

To make amendments in the regulations related to “Protection of Spam, unsolicited, fraudulent and obnoxious communication 2009” a proposition had been made by PTA.

Warning Will Be Given Before Taking Any Action

If a user is involve in such fraud first a warning will be given, if user doesn’t stop then the subscription will be ended in 24 hours after the complaint recorded. That user will be included in a black list.

Grey & Black List Users

A “Grey and black list” will be made for these people. The ones in grey list will be those to whom a warning had been given. Black list will include the users who committed this obnoxious communication again and again even after warning with there subscription terminated. These black list people with there user antecedents will not be given any telecom service in the future.

User antecedents will be shown on the operator’s site.

Subscription Can Be Restored By A Written Undertaking

Spam’s arising from a telecom network will be suspended by the operator handling the particular matter and the subscription will be restored if the person responsible gives a written undertaking mentioning not doing this in future.

A black list will be maintained by the operators which will hold the information of subscribers involved in the obnoxious activity. Also the operator’s website will be posted with the user’s antecedents of black list.

This will be implemented by the operators with such effective technical measures which would make it easy to control fraudulent calls and SMS.

Total information about the particulars telemarketers and content service providers will be provided by the operators.

It was stated by PTA that the info about these fraudulent calls and SMS also spamming will be given to the authority if demanded.
