Mr Thorsten Heins, CEO of RIM, recently had a chat with media in which he clarified that his company was not in any sort of trouble and all the things are going according to the plan. He also revealed an unexpected plan which will be discussed in the article.
Thorsten dropped the curtains by revealing that RIM is seriously considering using the Android firmware in its upcoming smartphones. It is obvious that RIM had a desire to have all the android apps but no one was really expecting that RIM would leave its own OS and switch to Android.
When asked that why didn’t you selected android in the past, he replied that the company thought that android was too common to be used. When every company will use android then it will look ordinary to the public. He said that RIM kept on using its own OS for the smartphones to look different. Following are the exact words of Mr Thorsten, the CEO of RIM.
“We took the conscious decision not to go Android. If you look at other suppliers’ ability to differentiate, there’s very little wiggle room. We looked at it seriously – but if you understand what the promise of BlackBerry is to its user base it’s all about getting stuff done.
Games, media, we have to be good at it but we have to support those guys who are ahead of the game. Very little time to consume and enjoy content – if you stay true to that purpose you have to build on that basis. And if we want to serve that segment we can’t do it on a me-too approach.”-Thorsten Heins, RIM CEO.
RIM is Better
Thorsten Heins’s relations with Nokia didn’t look good because he stated that Nokia and Windows do not deserve the attention and support they are currently getting. Moreover, he said that Blackberry is much better than Nokia.
