We are here with the latest smartphone from Sony, it is called Sony Xperia ion and it seems like Sony has finally decided to come out of old times and brought this new device which will be able to compete with the leading smartphones in the current markets. You might remember some of the other Xperia devices which were released by Sony Ericsson in the past, but as you might know that Sony has ended the partnership with Ericsson and decided to take full claim on its smartphone lineups. And Sony Xperia ion is going to be the first smartphone branded as Sony for the first time, as Sony has never built any smartphone in house previously.

Design & Looks

Obviously the device has been listed as PS certified and it will provide the perfect gaming experience to the Sony lovers, while the hardware of the device is also very capable. When you take a look at the device, you will find its design very similar to that of previous Xperia devices. Additionally, the device’s exterior is brushed metallic which really brings the stylish and premium look to the device. It is a large device though, but still it fits comfortably and smoothly in your hand due to its curved back.

Specifications

So, the device comes with a 4.6 inch HD Reality display in addition to the Mobile BRAVIA Engine which is a remarkable one as it will be able to provide 720p resolution which will be 720 x 1280 pixels. The display is very detailed while the ability to produce rich and vivid colors is also present in this device, which makes it one of the classic Sony devices. Another great thing about Xperia ion is that comes with a 12 MP auto focus rear camera having Exmor R senor while a VGA capable front camera is also present. Xperia ion will be able to record 1080p videos, while it will also feature 4G LTE connectivity and it will be powered by a powerful 1.5 GHz dual core Snapdragon processor.

First Dual Core Xperia Smartphone

Xperia ion is going to be the first dual core smartphone in the Xperia lineup and just like the other snapdragon running smartphones, it also gives a very responsive performance. Currently, the device is running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, while it is highly expected that it will get ICS soon after its release or maybe it will release with it. AT&T will be releasing this device soon. You might see the Sony Ericsson logo in the current images, but the retail model will only have Sony logo on it.
