Why Time Is Set To 9:42 am In Every iPhone Advertisement? Secret Revealed…

Apple iPhone ads have been very entertaining in the past years and if you are one those observant type people then you might have noticed that in all the iPhone ads, the handset displays the same time of 9:42. Well, I personally have been very curious about this thing and many other people have been speculating a lot about this matter over the years.

You can imaging the curiousness and speculations about this matter that almost every time press reporters ask this question from Apple’s own press team and most of the times they are not able to provide a proper answer. Obviously, it cannot be just a random thing, there ought to be some sort of reason behind all this.

Secret Revealed At Last

Recently left Apple executive, Bob Borcher has claimed that he know the reason why all the iPhone ads show the device showing same time. Well, don’t be surprised but the reason is a pretty boring one. In a recent presentation, Bob Borcher revealed this big secret about the mystery of 9:42 being shown in every iPhone handset shown in Apple commercials.

Bob Borcher said:

“if you ever see an Apple ad, print or TV, you look at the time and it’s always going to be 9:42 and 9:42 is when we launched the iPhone.”

Well, it basically means that Apple usually launched the new device specifically on 9:42 every year and that’s the reason why we see the same time in the ads. Most of us already knew this thing I hope but we were expecting something more than this here.

Well, another report from Google-fu states that Apple’s VP Scott Forstall has also commented on this matter and we much prefer his take on this matter here. Well, Forstall’s statement matches with the Bob Borcher’s but he has put it in another way by saying that, the reference of 9:42 comes in the ads because Apple usually pops up the iPhone image at the big screen after 40 minutes in all the Apple mega events. That is the main reason why Apple chose 9:42 to be added in the ads to match the time very near to the actual launch time of the latest handset. According to Forstall:

We design the (product launch) keynotes so that the big reveal of the product happens around 40 minutes into the presentation. When the big image of the product appears on screen, we want the time shown to be close to the actual time on the audience’s watches. But we know we won’t hit 40 minutes exactly.

So, all of this shows us that the people at Apple really know how to present things even the minor details.
