Earlier this year when FBR’s website was exposing sensitive data of taxpayers to public, it was highly criticized. FBR had to rectify the flaw in their website. Well, today we have something new but similar for you. Punjab Public Service Commission or PPSC also have similar kind of situation.
PPSC has now made every small to big detail about thousands of candidates, public. These candidates applied for lectureship jobs which were recently advertised by the PPSC. But they did not know that their details will be made public by the commission.
Details Of Candidates
Following are the details of all the lectureship candidates, which can easily be accessed by anyone from the PPSC website:
Anyone Can See Personal Data Of The Candidates
This all started when PPSC, recently announced 2000 plus male and female vacancies in lectureship in Punjab Education Department. This time, it was set compulsory for the candidates to apply online on their website. It did not end here, all the data was published online on the PPSC site and anyone can access the above mentioned data of any candidate without any password or authentication.
You can imagine by yourself that there were 2000 vacant seats for lecturers and hundreds of thousand people have applied for it. All of the candidates were asked to give their personal data but now everything is exposed to public. The situation alarmingly sensitive because 50% of the candidates are women and their data is also exposed online.
PPSC Should Take Emergency Step
Well, we are not going to publish the link or the loophole here which can be used to access the data. On the other hand, PPSC should take emergency steps immediately and undo this heinous blunder quickly as possible. Certainly, we are not criticizing the adoption of new technology and new online techniques but these government institutes should cover their loopholes and secure the private details by applying authorization or passwords.
Take a look at the following screen shot, as no username or password was asked to access this data. The list including the details of all the candidates is also available online.
