Android Ice Cream Sandwich To Be Released In October/November

In addition to Android activation numbers per day, the release timeline for the next version of Android has been disclosed by Google’s executive chairman and former Chief Executive Officer Eric Schmidt. It is code named as Ice Cream Sandwich.

In a conference, Dream Force ’11, a question answer session was going on in which this surprise was disclosed by Eric Schmidt. He said that on daily basis 550,000 of Android devices were activated and this number has been multiplied by two over the last few months. If it keeps on increasing in the same amount, soon it will rule the Earth.

Ice Cream Sandwich, which was previously expected to be released in November or December of this year but Schmidt, reported that may be it is released as early as next month.

Ice cream sandwich represents that how Android was developed in the past. Its tablet flavor (known as Honeycomb) was merged with smartphone counterpart (known as Gingerbread).

Last month some original screenshots of the latest Ice Cream Sandwich were leaked. These Blurry images showed Ice Cream Sandwich running on Google Nexus S. A number of improvements were shown which included different user interface improvements and also user interface paradigms which first appeared on tablets running Honeycomb.

On the release of Ice Cream Sandwich a successor to Google Nexus S Named Nexus Prime might be also launched. It is expected that this smartphone will have and even faster processor and will be having an AMOLED HD display.
