iPhone Bug; Not Recognizing Your Contacts

Is your iPhone bad in recognizing your contacts? It is due to a new bug that has been there in the iPhone and has been recently discovered by Paul Hontz of The Startup Foundry. After having a number of issues on the battery life of iPhone there comes another one that only deals with the messages app.

It occurs in such a way that when a message is received on the iPhone it does not display the name of sender even if the contact is saved in the contact list. And you will be surprised to know that when the same person replies to a text, there occurs another thread. Are you having this problem in your iPhone in these days? This is what Hontz want to say to you:

I updated my iPhone 4S earlier today (using the OTA method), and I discovered a nasty bug. My iPhone could no longer remember the names of any of my contacts! I opened up the contacts app on my phone and discovered that all of entries were still there but if I got a text or a call my iPhone would have a sudden bout of amnesia and forget the contacts name.

Due to such context of writing, this bug has only been isolated for those who are using the Verizon network along with an iPhone 4S powered by over the air iOS 5.0.1. The users who are having sprint or AT&T or the users who have installed the update are way too far from this bug and have fully been relieved from such difficulty.

How To Fix This Problem?

If you have only such a matter that your messages are not pairing with the contacts saved in your contact list then you should consider yourself to be lucky because the solution has been provided which has been proved to be successful for a number of people.

  1. Dial *228 on your iPhone
  2. Tap “1” to “Program or Activate”
  3. Firstly the call will disconnect then open the task manager which will only open when you press Home Button twice.
  4. Close the Apps you are using for messaging and contact apps.
  5. Check out the message app for the verification of the fix after five minutes.

This might not work on some of the phones the thing you should is to press option number 2 instead of 1 when you will dial *288 because according to some people it has much better results. If still this is not working for you then unfortunately you have to restore it from the backup. It is hoped that the next update will soon be provided to you in this regard.
