A Serious Siri Competitor Named “Utter!” Appearing Soon In Android Market

Ever Since Siri Personal Assistant was released by Apple back in October, well, many developers from Android and Windows Phone platforms have been trying to bring this never seen before technology their respective platform. The main feature of Siri which just surprises us is its ability to have a very tight integration with the system apps in the device. Obviously, we have seen many alternative apps and nice ones too like Dragon Go! and Speaktoit, but they all lack the tight system integration like Siri. Dragon Go! is basically integrated with a lot of online services but does not works with the system apps. Speaktoit on the other hand is a little more flexible and is also capable of working with some system apps but it comes with an unpolished look.

Today, we have discovered another great new Siri alternative for Android and it’s called “Utter!”. Well, this new app is very capable and we would also like to ask the iPhone 4S Siri users to check this one out too.

The app is developed by a member at XDA Developers named as brandall and he has developed this wonderful single handedly. So, this new voice input based personal assistant for Android is far beyond all the other Siri alternatives on Android and even Siri itself. The best feature of this new app is that it has exceptionally tight integration with all the native Android system apps and even with many of the popular third party apps available at Android Market for your device.

According to YouTube:

A first look at my android application ‘utter!’ which uses speech recognition to utilise the functionality of the applications already installed on your device.

It’s unlike the voice recognition software / applications Siri on iPhone 4S (IOS 5) or Speaktoit on Android or Ask Ziggy on Windows Phone 7 or the inbuilt voice actions for Android which all use their own functionality to provide search results.

Ask Anything You Want

Just like Siri you can ask utter! Anything like weather, setting the alarms and reminders, sending emails and texts, searching YouTube or Google and so much more. Additionally it also lets you update your twitter account, Google account, reboot into bootloader, checking travel details, checking battery status and a lot of other system tasks.

The best way to understand the flexibility of this great app, you will have to watch the following video posted by the developer in which he has shown most of the features and tasks it can do.

The app is not yet released but after it is completed the developer will bring it out for general public.
