EA Set To Leave Zynga Behind On Facebook With Its New Game ‘The Sims Social’

Some people think that planting crops, ploughing fields and feeding animals is very cool and casual activity on Facebook, but still they should think again. Two weeks ago, Electronics Arts released the latest of version of its avatar based game, The Sims Social. Well, it is now being reported that The Sims Social is growing much faster than FarmVille. Sims Social had 4.6 million players who were logging in every day just after a week of its release. So, it made Sims Social the 10th most popular game on Facebook in its first week of launch.

As for now, we can easily assume that EA is going to leave Zynga behind soon. In just two weeks after release, Sims Social has beaten nine games which include Zynga’s popular games like Empires & Aliens, Texas Hold ‘Em, Pioneer Trail and of course the FarmVille. According to the report by a Facebook tracking site Appdata.com, in just last 24 hours, Sims Social was played by 9.3 million people and on the other hand FarmVille was just played by 8.1 million users.

CityVille by Zynga is still leading the list by 14 million new players logging in everyday. So, Zynga people are looking a little worried now because it seems like just a matter of days that Sims Social will be topping the list.

A little about the Sims Social, it is very successful form of the addictive EA game, Sims. In PC versions of Sims, EA sold 140 million copies all around the world. Now, in this Sims Social, you can connect with the avatars of your Facebook friends. EA is reviving its The Sims Online, multiplayer game which was released in 2002 and shut down in 2008.

We are also witnessing the slow downfall of Zynga’s FarmVille here. Last year, FarmVille was used by over 32 million people everyday which was the peak time of FarmVille. There were Lady Gaga and English Countryside add-ons were also introduced in it. User growth started to decline when users complained that it became more and more time consuming and boring.

On the other hand, Sims has no penalties for not checking in frequently, the game remains same where you leave it. Social Sims sure is the beginning of a new era in Facebook games.
