iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak For A4 Devices Using Redsn0w or Corona

As we have reported earlier that Pod2g, a well know jailbreak community member was working on an untethered jailbreak solution of iOS 5 to masses. So, finally, the developers have worked so hard to release an untethered jailbreak for all the A4 devices running on iOS 5.0.1.

A few days ago, Pod2g passed on the untethered jailbreak to the Chronic Development Team because he himself wanted to concentrate on the A5 devices jailbreak and he thought that Chronic team will be able to develop an integrated package of untethered jailbreak which will be distributable to the public.

And here we are, just after five days, Chronic Team has released an official untethered jailbreak for all the A4 devices running on iOS 5.0.1. The jailbreak has been implemented by both popular jailbreak teams; Chronic Dev and iPhone Dev Team.

iOS 5.0 Jailbreak Soon To Be Released After Some Debugging

At this moment, the current jailbreak is only able to support iOS 5.0.1 while the Chronic Dev team member tweeted earlier today that the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0 will be released very soon after fixing a small number of bugs and more testing. Pod2g also advised users to not to upgrade to iOS 5.0.2 or iOS 5.1, so, they will not be able to jailbreak their device in the future. So, the current untethered jailbreak will be supported by iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 3G/4G and iPad 1, while iPad 2 and iPhone 4S are still work in progress.

So, if you  have an iOS 5.0.1 Tethered jailbreak on your A4 device, then all you need to do is launch Cydia and download a package named Corona, which will let you access the untethered jailbreak. On the other hand, if you have a non jailbroken iOS 5.0.1 device then you should just install the Redsn0w on your PC and jailbreak your device with the latest version. And you will be able to get the untethered jailbreak.
